Cheltenham Festival winning jump jockey Rachael Blackmore will ride Emmet Mullins-trained outsider King Of The Throne in Saturday’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.

Blackmore, who finished second to Paul Townend in the Irish jump championship last season, last week won the Listed Martin Moloney Stakes on Mullins-trained Oriental Eagle at Limerick.

Blackmore, who added a win on the Flat at Fairyhouse on Thursday to two wins over hurdles at Roscommon on Wednesday, said: ‘To be riding in the Irish Derby is pretty cool for me. It’s such a prestigious race and to get an opportunity to ride in it is a massive deal.’

Aidan O’Brien fields six of the 15 Irish Derby runners, headed by last week’s Queen’s Vase winner Santiago. The 11-4 favourite is ridden by Seamus Heffernan.

Meanwhile, Saeed Bin Suroor-trained Military March has been ruled out of the Investec Derby at Epsom after picking up an injury.

The colt was 11-2 third favourite after his fourth to Kameko in the 2,000 Guineas.
