Robin Goodfellow’s racing tips: Best bets for Saturday, August 8

The decision to switch GLOBAL GIANT (Haydock, 2.40) to John Gosden already looks a smart move and Saturday’s BetVictor Rose Of Lancaster Stakes represents a superb chance of Group race glory.

All three of the selection’s performances since moving from Ed Dunlop have been superior to anything he achieved beforehand, with the son of Shamardal posting a career-best in the Steventon Stakes at Newbury last time.

The form of that snug victory under the tutelage of Gosden (right) has already been enhanced with third-home Pablo Escobarr winning tidily at Goodwood, while Walkinthesand (sixth) recorded a fine run off top weight in a hot handicap at the same venue.

Sportsmail’s racing expert Robin Goodfellow dishes out his tips for Saturday’s meetings

Global Giant had previously suffered defeat at Sandown when hitting a troubled passage in the straight and it is worth noting the runner-up that day, Aspetar, went on to win a York Group Two on his next start.

Connections of Global Giant are reportedly eyeing a valuable prize in Bahrain as his ultimate target this year, but today’s Group Three is a perfect stepping stone and he is capable of confirming Newbury placings with Extra Elusive.

Zaaki looks an interesting contender as he ran as well as he could behind Sussex Stakes winner Mohaather in the Summer Mile at Ascot and his trainer has been keen to try the five-year-old back over 10 furlongs.

He was third in this race two years ago and could well give Global Giant some concerns.

The nap vote goes to DANILOVA (Newmarket, nap, 3.20), who makes a quick return to action following a smart course-and-distance success in maiden company last weekend.

Today’s race represents a marked step up in grade for the daughter of Dubawi, but her experience of the track could prove invaluable and she was the last off the bridle seven days ago which suggested she had learned plenty from her debut last month.

Fly Miss Helen boasts plenty of class judged on her Newbury win three weeks ago and she could prove a class apart. However, her potential is built into the price while there is still juice in Danilova’s odds.
